The Safety Department maintains a relationship with community groups and local precincts, 103rd, 105th, 106th, and 113th within Southeast Queens, to receive reports of crime against older adults. Safety has assisted clients regarding such crimes as robbery, assault, burglary, ID theft, fraud, violating order of protection and harassment. The Safety Department provides victim's assistance through information and referrals based upon victim's needs, emergency financial assistance, advocacy, escorts to the courts, crisis counseling and compensation claims assistance through the New York State Office of Victims Services.
The Safety Department also helps victims of Elder Abuse including physical abuse, financial exploitation, neglect and emotional and psychological abuse.
